From everything that’s I’ve read (based on the findings by the American Academy of Pediatrics) there is nothing that can be shown on a screen that is benneficial to a child under 2. Nothing. No screens.
I’ll have to find the information that I am referring to just to make sure I read it right, but as long as you’re describing what is going on on the screen (i.e. parental interaction) and what you’re watching has VERY slow scene switching or none at all, it is perfectly fine, since the fast flickering, and lack of parental interaction during TV/movie watching are the 2 bad effects of it. I’ll definitely dig up all that I’ve read just to be sure myself, and for the post.
What have you read about the fast changing scenes of tv/movie? Just curious.
That one of the worst effects of TV (even when played in the background and looked at occasionally) on a developing brains is the fast moving scenes that “program” the brain circuitry to expect the same in real life which predisposes a kid to having ADHD layer in life.
There was a lot more and crazy stats backing it up.
When I get around to writing the post I’ll try to pull it all since I need a refresher myself.
Yes, I saw that the fast scene changes makes them used to and expect a fast paced life. I just wasn’t sure if what you read was the same as what I read.
Elena, it’d be great if you found the link! I’m wondering about screen radiation (?) and those sensible baby eyes. Is it harmful?I remember you used a radiation protector when your were pregnant. If you know anything, please share!
I didnt read it on the Internet, It was in a few books I’ve read, but I will dig it out.
I know nothing about screen radiation, but we do turn the phone on airplane mode to limit the waves, as well as have a wave redirecting iphone cover.
As far as the eyes, I know that studies have shown that reading doesn’t really make your vision worse ( though I am not sure I believe it), but I don’t know how it applies to screens.
sometimes (often times) I wonder what I did with all those hours in my day before we had P…and how in the WORLD did I ever flush the toilet without someone else helping me 😉
Ahahahahahaha!!!! That is so true.
See you had it all wrong. The toilet needs to be flushed 2-3 times.
Loved your video. Time away with friends is so much fun, and it’s totally inspired me to do something similar for my girls weekend away next month!
A little slow but I enjoyed it :))) Nice to see every-day-life shots of you guys!! :)))) I love your work, elena! 🙂
