It’s long been a dream of mine to have our whole house covered with artifacts from different countries we have visited and travel gallery walls of gorgeous places we have photographed. There’s certainly no shortage of beautiful photography brought back to us from each trip ( you can see it on Every Avenue World IG account )
Yesterday I wrote about using push pin maps to help kids remember their travel adventures and places they have been along with some geography education. I had also mentioned travel galleries and how we use them to keep the memories alive.
Had we started a long time ago, by now we would have accumulated a few nice travel gallery walls to showcase our trips. Unfortunately, the idea did not occur to me until recently, over 100 trips into our travel career, to print one canvas as a souvenir for each trip. But you gotta start somewhere, right? So here is our start:
Summer Camp Photo Travel Gallery Wall
This idea came to me after we had an amazing inspiring summer session at Lake Hubert family camp. Lexi tried so many new things and activities, some that she found great success at and others that were more difficult or she even failed at. The whole experience was so inspiring and educational, that I was looking for a way to “eternalize” the lessons, successes and failures, to remind her just how strong she could be. That way came in the form amazing gallery of metal standoffs.
I love how they are offset a bit, so it creates more dimension while making the pieces look unique and edgy. It’s a great alternative to canvas, thin metal prints and framed photos that you won’t find in every home.
The summer camp gallery displays some of her amazing experiences, like riding horses, trying her hand at archery, hanging out with camp counselors, participating in skit night with friends.
Travel Gallery Wall
The reason I picked canvas prints specifically is because they are easy to match up in all different sizes and relatively inexpensive to buy. You can arrange them in any pattern and order on any wall of the house! We broke these 15 photos into 2 galleries and will continue filling in the sides with new prints.
The first travel wall displays our adventures over the couch in our family room. I love how it fills in the space, because prior to that, it was a huge empty wall as a centerpiece of the whole room.
Some of the canvas we hung individually along the hallways on the walls, like our Galapagos collage, or the Montenegrin landscape, as they can be seen better as stand-alone photos.
Our second travel gallery wall took up the other massive empty wall space in our pool room. The images perfectly tied in with the blue felt of the pool table and always make it for a fun conversation topic when we are hanging out with friends and playing pool.
About Nations Photo Lab
Nations Photo Lab is an online photo service company that helps brings your favorite photos to life. From prints to wall art to photo gifts, they take the special moment you captured and create beautiful pieces of art with it. They were founded in 2005 by two photographers who found that there were not reputable places to get high-quality prints and artwork for their images. So they created Nations Photo Lab, which now specializes in professional photo printing on a variety of mediums.
Nations Photo Labs has several different ways you can create the perfect piece of art to capture your favorite images. They offer simple prints, photo books, photo albums, cards, and wall art. They offer a variety of options for each of these categories, giving shoppers the ability to create and customize exactly what they want for their photo.
One of Nations Photo Lab most popular options for photo prints are their wall art and decor. They offer canvas prints, metal art, acrylic art, acrylic art blocks, and custom framing and mounting. Their canvas prints and metal stand-off prints are two of their most popular options, and that is what we recently received for our family.
Nations Photo Lab not only offers high-quality canvas prints that look great without compromising the integrity of your image, but they also offer a variety of sizes so you can create the perfect gallery wall. They have canvases with 0.75” depth that range in sizes from 5×5” all the way up to poster size of 30×40”. The 1.5” depth option has sizes ranging in 8×10” all the way up to 30×40”. Both can be printed in portrait or landscape, and color correction by their professional editors is available.
All of the images printed on canvas are printed on museum-grade cotton canvas. They are laminated with a protective gloss to keep your images looking bright and vibrant for longer. You can have the canvas wrap around the four sides of the border, or add a white or black border to the sides. Each canvas comes ready to hang on your wall with pre-installed sawtooth hangers or a wire hanger. With the 20 different options for sizes, you can create a gallery of images for your wall that you will love and cherish.
The metal stand-off prints from Nations Photo Lab are another popular option for wall decor. These unique photo prints come in 14 different size options from sizes 8×8” to 24×36”. These prints are great for things like your favorite images from your travels or holidays, or family photos. The high-quality printing process results in sharp, crisp images with intense color vibrancy. If you have a photo with bright colors or one that you want to showcase all of its rich features, then the metal stand-off prints might be a great option.
The metal stand-off prints come with stainless steel posts that place your image away from being flush with the wall. They are 2mm thick and have a protective gloss over the top to protect from sun damage and scratches. They come ready to mount with drywall anchors and screws and a paper hanging template for easy installation. They are printed on raw aluminum so it is important to keep them out of direct sunlight to maintain the integrity of your image.
