Oh the days…

Don’t you sometimes wish that you could get a month or two uninterrupted by anything and anyone without responsibilities so that you could catch up with all the things you don’t have time to do that are lacking in your life? I am sure mothers specifically feel the pain.

I remember being young, carefree and childless and thinking that I had no time to do anything cuz I worked. Bwwahahahahahahahaa! I don’t think you understand the meaning of lack of time until you have kids ( adding a full time job or work at home job, part time job and hobbies on top of that is a plus).

My schedule has turned into “go to bed at 1-2 am, wake up at 7-8am”  just so that I could possibly make a dent in everything.

It’s really fun, if you think about it. I wouldn’t choose to have it any other way. I like being busy. If I didn’t, I would stop with all the wanting and hobbies and shit that I keep piling up on myself.

So…this was brought on in part by the fact that Easter was awesome this time, but awesome here means I took more photos that I can go through in a month, plus videos, plus two egg hunts. Yikes!

They are so adorable, I am having trouble staying away from going through them. Lexi had a neighborhood egg hunt and then an egg hunt we organized in our backyard together with Lexitwin. The photos of them in their white dresses are OUT OF this world!

And I still have Disney photos to share ( really cool ones, too) and our trip to Tampa for Pink concert, and there is the long forgotten girls’ boating trip, my first time out without Lexi, and of course all the more meaningful posts and all the products I’ve discovered in the meantime that are great for this age and more more more more more more….

And the second part of why I wrote this post was because I was showing Lexi some of our home videos ( it’s actually beneficial for babies to watch home videos (slow moving, ones featuring babies themselves), I’ll be writing about that…eventually. Helps them with sense of self and memories), and I bumped into a video I did a few years back of us and our girlfriends’ trip to Universal.

Oh what fun!

And for lack of more time to write a proper post, I will leave you with that video. It makes me happy!

Also don’t forget: Daily Mom is running the 50 Days of Giveaways and we are on Day 2. There are two giveaways currently available to enter and one added each day.

  1. From everything that’s I’ve read (based on the findings by the American Academy of Pediatrics) there is nothing that can be shown on a screen that is benneficial to a child under 2. Nothing. No screens.

    • I’ll have to find the information that I am referring to just to make sure I read it right, but as long as you’re describing what is going on on the screen (i.e. parental interaction) and what you’re watching has VERY slow scene switching or none at all, it is perfectly fine, since the fast flickering, and lack of parental interaction during TV/movie watching are the 2 bad effects of it. I’ll definitely dig up all that I’ve read just to be sure myself, and for the post.

        • That one of the worst effects of TV (even when played in the background and looked at occasionally) on a developing brains is the fast moving scenes that “program” the brain circuitry to expect the same in real life which predisposes a kid to having ADHD layer in life.
There was a lot more and crazy stats backing it up.
When I get around to writing the post I’ll try to pull it all since I need a refresher myself.

          • Yes, I saw that the fast scene changes makes them used to and expect a fast paced life. I just wasn’t sure if what you read was the same as what I read.

  2. Elena, it’d be great if you found the link! I’m wondering about screen radiation (?) and those sensible baby eyes. Is it harmful?I remember you used a radiation protector when your were pregnant. If you know anything, please share!

    • I didnt read it on the Internet, It was in a few books I’ve read, but I will dig it out.
I know nothing about screen radiation, but we do turn the phone on airplane mode to limit the waves, as well as have a wave redirecting iphone cover.

As far as the eyes, I know that studies have shown that reading doesn’t really make your vision worse ( though I am not sure I believe it), but I don’t know how it applies to screens.

  3. sometimes (often times) I wonder what I did with all those hours in my day before we had P…and how in the WORLD did I ever flush the toilet without someone else helping me 😉

  4. Loved your video. Time away with friends is so much fun, and it’s totally inspired me to do something similar for my girls weekend away next month!
