Who does Alexis look like?

Who Does Alexis Look Like?

As expected we’ve been given a good share of guesses from friends, family and strangers alike as to who they think Alexis looks like. To us, she looks like her own person. We talked about it today and  she looks like either one of us, which is absolutely amazing! Her features are so distinct. I am so curious and excited to see how her baby features transform into kid features. If we had to choose, we both tend to think she now looks more like me as a baby, while before she looked more like Andrew as a baby. It’s really hard to say because Andrew doesn’t have many baby pictures. Most people who choose to express their opinion on the matter say she looks like daddy.

So I thought I would post our baby pictures so that you could compare and see if you notice any resemblance between Alexis and I or Alexis and Andrew.

Below are pictures of me at 2 years of age and 6 months of age.

Here is Andrew as a baby (not sure of age) and as a small kid (also no age)

On a related but unrelated topic, while looking for these photos I bumped into the project I did a few years back where I recreated my childhood photos. Those are fun, I need to do more. And I will certainly do these type of photos with Alexis as she grows.

  1. She looks 100000% like your hubby! No question! She looks identical to that baby pic of him.

You guys were both beautiful babies/children!

  2. She looks JUST like your husband – at first I thought the black and white pic of him has a baby was one of Alexis! Especially the nose/eyes – they are identical!

  3. I agree- she looks exactly like your husband. It’s like you guys cloned him or something. Who is she more like personality-wise so far?

  4. I see a lot of your hubby, especially in the eyes, but she has her own distinct look, which is super cute of course. Love how you recreated those old photos, what a cute idea!

  5. Not sure who she looks like, I think she looks like Alexis, a combination of you both, and VERY cute! And I LOVE the photo project, what an amazing idea!!

  6. I think she looks like a mix of both of you! I see the resemblance in the one of you lying on your front, but I also see the resemblance of the one of your husband as a baby! I definitely think shes a mix of both!!

  7. I’m terrible at figuing out who looks like who, so I’m not even going to try that. But I just wanted to say that the photos where your recreated childhood photos are so cute. Love it!

  8. Right now, I think she looks like your husband, for sure. However, I once read that babies are typically born resembling their fathers, although they may not later in life. The theory was that if the baby looks like the father, the father will believe it’s his own, thus inspiring him to protect and care for the baby. Kinda makes sense from a biological standpoint. My daughter certainly did not look like me when she was a baby but as she gets older (she’s 3 now), she looks much more like I do and resembles my photos from when I was about the same age. So maybe that’s how it will be with Lexi! You already know she’s gonna be a tall girl!

    • I say the same thing, because my daughter looks like my husband lol
Sorry chica, I know how much it pisses me off when people say “she looks just like your husband” and I’m like “I birthed her, damnit!”
But, I have to say she looks like Andrew from the baby picture. But, they do say that babies resemble their fathers at first and then change more, which is true I’ve seen because the older V gets, the more I think she starts to look like me.

    • It’s funny how that happens! I was a carbon copy of my mother from birth til about 6th or 7th grade, and then I somehow turned into a clone of my dad’s sister–and she looks a great deal like my dad. My brother, on the other hand, did the exact opposite; from birth to middle school, he looked like our dad, and now, he’s definitely mom’s child.

Elena, right now, Alexis is a dead ringer for your husband, though she does have some of your features. It’ll fun for y’all to watch her grow into her looks!

    • Biologically babies usually look like their dads when they are first born so that the dad can’t deny paternity.

Elena, Lexi looks so much like your husband as a baby. Adorable!

My daughter (who is almost 2) once saw a picture of me as a baby and thought it was her. Wait till Lexi is a little older and you can show these to her!

  9. Man, I can’t tell!!!

On the Xmas pic with the year, did you find an identical bow and get it to sit on top of your head so perfectly that the dots are all in the same position or did you photoshop it on from the old picture?!?!? Those are hilarious. My siblings and I have been talking about doing something like this with our baby pics as well.

  10. From seeing her in person I can tell she got the best of the two worlds! 🙂 She looks a lot like you and Andrew! :)) And girl- the last pic of you in the red top- you should go back to wearing your bangs like that! HAHAHAHAHA! :)) HUGS

  11. The guy who has your husband on his shoulders looks like Ryan Gosling but with serious side burns. As for your baby, she looks like your hubs but probably won’t forever.

  12. So. While i think recreating photos is fun to do, heck I did it with my twins. But…… I find it a little vein that you would recreate yourself. Take more photos of that cute baby and recreate those with her. And, I agree with everyone else above, she looks a great deal like your hubs.

    • I give you an F in spelling and reading comprehension lol
It’s “vain” and the post says the photos were taken ” a few years back” ( before I had a baby to recreate those with ). And even then, how is it vain to take on a photo project and bring it to life? Who cares who the subject is. The point is the concept, not me.

      • OMG! Even in the most innocent and noncontrovertial of posts, the idiots still come out of the woodwork. So sad!!! Elena, how dare you take a photo of your self (pre-baby) instead of your baby! You should only photograph your child as to never apear to love yourself more than her. Even though she didn’t exist yet. You should have taken the photos of your cat instead.

        😉

        • “photograph your child as to never appear to love yourself more than her” Exactly! People care so much about what they “appear” to look like, rather than what they are really like.
I have always been saddened and shocked by those who think that a person who takes pictures of themselves (in whatever capacity) is vain ( I am not talking about a million arm’s length lips puckered up photos, but even those are fine if that’s what the person finds entertaining). I never encountered such people in Russia, so I have to assume it’s an exclusively American trait, where people are made to feel shameful if they so much as “appear” to not be ridden with self-doubt and self-consciousness. I guess it probably comes from upbringing and family. If your family never took pictures and avoided being in photos, felt shameful about their bodies and their looks, you’ll do the same. Like my hubby hated being photographed and having to take the time to photograph me, because his family didn’t take pictures. He is now fine with it, but it took many many years.

    • I never comment here, but that was a really lame thing to say. Aside from the terrible spelling and grammar, it’s just not true. Elena is a photographer, and she was doing a creative project. I think they’re hilarious and awesome. Now if she had those blown up to poster size and displayed all over her house, that would be another story! 😉

  13. I’m terrible at trying to figure out who babies look like! As a frequent reader of your blog, I just have to say that I was having a crappy morning, got online and really enjoyed your baby photos and your photo recreations! So clever! Thanks for the smile. 🙂

  14. I was looking through some of your old post and came across you guys’ wedding picture in one of your TTC post. You should totally recreate that one!!!! You look SO young in it, btw.

Oh, and another vote for Alexis looking like your husband. Which is a good thing, because if we’re being honest, based on these pics he was definitely the cuter baby and toddler.

  15. Considering the comments of Crazy Bri, Jenn and Jess, it’s amazing that you have the courage to put anything out there on the net, Elena. People like Crazy Bri, Jenn and Jess are pigeons. They fly by other people’s sites, sh*t on them and they fly away. Why they’d bother is a mystery. If you don’t like something, fly away. It’s quite simple. Try insulting people face to face! You’d be a lot less likely to do it.

Anyway, I think she looks like Andrew too (although I’m not very good at determining that) and all the pictures are really cute.

Recreating pics is nothing new, they’re done all the time. It’s not “vein,” whether we’re talking a blood vessel or egotistical, LOL.

Keep on posting, you have enough fans to offset the jealous people. 🙂

  16. I think she looks like your husband. My first daughter looked so much like her daddy as a baby, now everyone thinks both my girls look exactly like me. 🙂

  17. Elena! I love that you’ve done the ‘young me, now me’ photos! You did a beautiful job with yours and I especially love the one with you and your mother, and the ‘new years’ one! I think we are the same age, too (born 1984?)! We did it with my husband as a mothers day gift for his mom last year! It is freaking hilarious and I crack up every time I look at it.

As for Alexis, your husband’s baby pic looks exactly like her! But it will be interesting to see, as she grows, if that changes or not! Sometimes it does! You’re both cute so Alexis has a win/win situation going on 🙂

  18. I love these 🙂 I’ve done some comparison photos of Josh/Lillian and me/Lillian also, but never got around to posting them yet. I used to hear ALL the time from strangers/acquaintances how she looked like her Daddy (my family and Josh always saw a huge resemblance to me as a baby though too) and while that made me proud for Josh, it did always rub me the TEENIEST bit the wrong way too, after all I was the one who carried her for 9 months and gave birth and had to recover, ha ha!)
Alexis looks EXACTLY like you in the top photo of you on your tummy. And strangely she also looks EXACTLY like the one of your hubby as a baby too! (That’s such an interesting harlequin-pattern outfit he has!) Amazing how that happens. Josh and I feel that Lillian is 50% him and 50% me and 100% herself. We love it! Seems that Alexis has that blessing of genes as well. 🙂
