22 Week Bump Update

All my bump update photos are always taken on the exact day I hit the next week ( Thursday, according to conception date set by me, not the doctors). So on Thursday morning I woke up and felt happy and felt like having fun ( I usually dread taking these photos- too much work- gotta put clothes on, do something with hair, hopefully put some make up on). I still didn’t put make up on, or wash my hair ( I know gross), but this outfit made me happy, so I figured I’d take goofier photos than usual. And also just FYI for those who wondered, I never ever edit anything on these bump photos (what would be the point?), except for the pimples on my face ( because it’s so bad right now) and most of the time I have no make up on ( unless it’s obvious that I do). Normally I don’t get out of the house without at least some make up on.

STATS:

How far along: 22 weeks.

How big is baby: The size of a papaya and almost a pound.

Total weight gain: 2 pounds again (149lb) this week, for a total of approximately 13 pounds from the start of the pregnancy.

Yeah, as you can see the cookies didn’t stop last week 🙂 lol I am now done with whatever we had at home and if we don’t buy any more, I should be just fine. Still eating really well otherwise.

Sleep: I have been going to bed later than I should, so the sleep hasn’t been very restful, but I am changing it this week.

Maternity Clothes: Lots of leggings, some maternity work out pants, maternity jeans on occasion when I feel like it, but mostly pre-pregnancy dresses and skirts.

Best moment of the week:

Alexis playing patty-cakes with Andrew. ( read below)

Food cravings : Soft cookies and lots of fruit

Food aversions: none

Symptoms:

Heartburn – oh I had it bad for a few days this week. Like my throat is ON FIRE!!!!!
Rash – I can’t tell if it’s getting better or not. I don’t think it’s getting worse so that’s good. It did spread to the rest of my body in certain spots, but very manageable so far.
Acne – it has not gotten better at all. So i figured I am stuck with it for a while now.

Movement:

Alexis is very active when I am sitting or lying down. These are my favorite times of the day.

So the other day, we were hanging out on the couch talking… Alexis had been super active all day. She was moving and kicking, so my husband put his hand on my belly and pushed softly. She responded with a kick. He waited a few seconds and pushed back again, she kicked his hand again. They went on exchanging pushes for quite a long time, until he stopped pushing back. It was so much fun – it was obviously random- she was actually responding to his pushes. So amazing! Andrew kept gushing over it for the next two days which was so cute “I had my first game with our daughter!”

She’s already such a daddy’s girl!

Also, one day this week, she moved in a way where i could tell it was her head pushing into my side, so we gently pet her on the head- you could actually feel a big hard area. I didn’t think those things were possible until much later in the pregnancy, so it was very cool.

Gender: Girly girl!

What I’m looking forward to:
This weekend and more nursery work. Husband will be working on the casings and assembling the crib. YAY!
It’s probably time to start interviewing pediatricians, too!

What I miss:
Nothing! I love our little baby girl so much, I refuse to miss anything at the moment!

Next appt: October 6th

  1. man, I am so glad you post these every week! I love seeing the changes in your baby belly and reading about the movement that Alexis is doing! I look forward to reading more and can’t wait to “meet” her!

  2. So fun! Your husband is going to be such a great daddy! You can tell how much he loves her already! Mike couldn’t feel our baby girl move very much until a lot later this time. I love that he can feel her a lot now! Your belly is definitely poking out a lot more! Love it!! It’s nice to actually look more pregnant. ; )

  3. Awww this brings back such wonderful memories of “playing” with my own babies in the womb. It’s simply amazing when you and DH can actually feel a head, foot, elbow, etc pushing back at you, isn’t it?! The one thing I miss most about pregnancy is the movements. You never forget them! It was really weird, but after my son was born (oldest) I was sad about not being able to feel him move inside me anymore. A lot of that was just post pregnancy hormones, but even now I miss movements!
I cannot wait to read your nursery post, and your cloth diaper post! I had been meaning to ask you how your cloth diapering research was going. I love cloth diapering, so can’t wait to find out some of your thoughts!

    • It’s really mind blowing to think that only half way through gestation, babies are able to interact. I could never get how you can miss pregnancy, but I am starting to see now that the movements are something that I might miss when she’s finally born.

  4. LOVE the bump, & hot pink tube hehe. BTW – i read about yuor acne – i have GREAT amazing skin my whole life, and all of a sudden BAM! it got really bad, i use a topical called Clyndoxl Gel prescribed by my dr. maybe go in and see if its baby safe and somthing you can use and benifit from, the only negative that i find is it REALLY dries out my face – so i just a clinique dramatically diffferent GEL (yellow) 2 times a day and it takes that right away!!

    • Hey, Nicole! You know it’s funny I think I used that same gel when I was modelling before I figured the whole skin thing out ( once I started eating all fresh good foods, my skin cleared up). But I’m not taking ANY meds during pregnancy, even supposed safe ones, because most of them haven’t had adequate studies done. Besides, most acne products are kind of off-limits, anyways. I’ve already come to terms with the fact that until I give birth and possibly get back on birth control, I’ll have sucky skin… Sad but what are you gonna do- pregnancy hormones are a bitch.
BTW, loved Clinique gel before pregnancy- it was one of my favorite products.

  5. Just a little caution. Pushing on the belly like that can cause fetal distress. I know it’s fun to feel the baby, but you don’t want her stressed out in the womb!

    • Sarah,

are you sure? I thought I had read a few places that the baby exploring the womb actually promotes brain development. Of course the last thing we’d want to do is upset her. He wasn’t really pushing hard, just a little nudge.

Thanks for the heads up though!!!!

  6. yeah I wouldnt be pushing on the baby too much. You dont know what you are pushing on (it could be her fanny you are pushing on and not her head…..I was having an ultrasound with my second and I was convinced her head was in a certain place and nope….butt) anyhow….how would you like it if someone was pushing on you just randomly….napping away and bloooop someones shoving your back or your head.
