I am absolutely in love with the Russian trend in baby clothes. This is quite unlike me because I don’t tend to like “Russian things”, but the old Russian style of Matreshkas and roses and fashions of that era agrees with me. The heritage plays a big role, too, of course. I do want Alexis to know where her mom came from and the history of Russia and its rich culture. One day we’ll be sitting next to each each other reading History of Russia together ( as long as her love of reading continues to grow like on steriods).
One of my favorite brands, Polarn O Pyret, surprised me with a release of Russian Rose collection (search for it on their website) this year, which is, mind you, on sale right now. I am in love! They really are masters of prints. Check out this post about their spring pattern on Daily Mom
So one of the cooler spring days, when my mom was still here ( *tear*), we went out for a walk in the park and a little Russian Rose inspired photoshoot.

Doesn’t she look like a perfect Russian princess?
I can’t wait till she’s old enough to understand her background, so that I could take her to Russia.
I know what you mean about taking her back to the “homeland.” When DD is older, we are totally taking her to Hong Kong and China so that she can appreciate where her grandparents grew up and her mommy had lived.
She is absolutely beautiful! I love the Russian roses on her! She rocks it!
Lexi is adorable, I especially love the tunic… I have looked into these on POP (which I discovered thanks to you) and thought that this particular “a la Russe” design is a litte “kitch-y” for me, but now that I see it on Lexi, it actually looks really cute!
I know what you mean. I was not expecting it to look THAT cute!
I wish all clothing brands would spend the money on models for their website images.
I’m not a huge fan of my heritage (Romanian) but there are definitely parts of it that excite me. I hope to pass this onto my son and future kidos like you are with Lexi. Good job Elena! Your doing great! Lexi is adorable in those prints and your totally right, perfect Russian princess. Thank you for reminding me to teach my son about the heritage he inherited. It is important nowadays since our culture is so Westernized or Americanized. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but we must remember the thing that made America great is the fact it was a ‘melting’ pot of cultures. All of these cultures are important building blocks in the history of America. I just love that.
Love her headbands in the tunic photos, where are they from?
I’ve been following your blog since you TTC. My LO is 7 months. It’s fun to compare our little girls!! Thanks!
Some etsy shop. I’ll look it up this evening.
Here you go.

Those outfits really do suit miss Lexi! I have been following your blog since before Lexi was born and have always wondered if you have ever thought about doing a post about raising her to be bilingual. I’ve heard you speaking to her in Russian on various videos that you have posted and I assume your husband only speaks to her in English (though I could certainly be wrong about that). Is raising Lexi to be bilingual something you planned out or has it just happened that way? Is she learning words in both English and Russian at an equal pace? I plan to raise my children to be bilingual and am just curious about how different families go about it. Thanks for continuing to create great blog content!
Thank you, Cara! 🙂
I think I had written a post about that before Lexi was born, but never followed up with how it’s going. It is on my post list to write about 🙂
Thanks so much Elena! Looking forward to reading it : )
Ooooh these are SO cute! I’m a sucker for flowers and brights – win/win!
That white tunic is one of the cutest things I’ve seen her in! I love it. She looks SO much like her daddy – it’s gotta make your heart melt every time you look at her. I love seeing my husband in my little girl – my favorite adult reflected in my favorite child!
Why is that dress so cute!? I’m taking my daughter to russia in a couple of months & now you’ve got me thinking about a special outfit, heh.
Oh yes!!!!! The dress would be PERFECTION!
i haven’t been to your site in a while and just checked back in – alexis is so big! and those curls are to die for!!!
I’m so jealous of your Russian heritage! I’m 100% Greek, and I can speak Greek, but I’ve always loved Russian.
Btw, I love Lexi’s hair! Is it naturally curly, or do you sponge roll it like some moms are doing. And, did your hair change during pregnancy? I was reading through your posts are your hair seemed to get more curly during the end of your pregnancy.
Say what? Do mom actually put rollers in their babies’ hair? Holy crap! No it’s definitely not rollers hahaha 🙂 I mean even if I wanted to, I don’t have time to make my daughter’s hair curly 🙂 lol I love her little curls, they make me happy!
the only thing my hair did during pregnancy and get oily and nasty! Ugh! I hated it 🙂
These photos are amazing! Love the cute outfits, and Lexi’s hair reminds me of how Lucy’s hair looked at her age, I would just scrunch her hair after her bath to make the curls more curlier. I wish her hair was that curly now. Okay, I think I’m going to cry now, time flies way too fast. You look good too by the way, I’m still struggling with the baby weight, but it’s totally worth it!
Awwwww!!’
I actually have to brush her hair out when wet to make sure the curls are manageable. Lol
