First Swing Ride {photo Dump}
I am doing a good job catching up with the photo posts and soon you’ll see more current ones and more meaningful posts.I have Father’s day, 4th of July, Lexi’s first boat trip and an overnight trip to Orlando left to blog about and then I’ll be all up to date and hopefully start posting more current photos, as well as more parenting related stuff. It’s much easier to edit photos, put them into a collage and post them, than write about more serious things, so I am trying to get the backlog of photography out of the way.

I don’t have much to say for this post. It’s a simple photo dump from our first playground trip. Alexis loved the swing and would probably do it until she passed out. Unfortunately, with the current Florida weather we can’t be going to the playground too often. It gets too hot by about 8 am. But starting October, when she’s 8 months old and the weather is cool, I suspect we’ll have daily trips there. I am already seeing how bored she gets at home, even though I try to provide a stimulating environment. But she’s the happiest when we go places. So i predict a lot of walks and fun trips outside of home as soon as the weather gets cooler. Right now we’re trying to plan at least one outing somewhere fun once a week: the beach, the playground, children’s museum, the mall, the pool, Disney, etc.

  1. Hey – love the pictures. Just wondering whether you spend much time with other mothers, do you have coffee groups etc with other mothers and babies. I live in Australia, so not sure if it’s different in the US – but we attend antenatal classes and form coffee groups with those women. Often the women you meet there will be your friends for life – and you often end up going on to have more kids the same age etc. My baby son is 8 weeks old now, and the time I spend with those women and their babies is absolutely invaluable. We have shared all our birth experiences (supporting each other through the recovery process – emergency c-sections etc). We share all the trials and tribulations of motherhood – tips and tricks for sleeping and settling (that is how “white noise” became our trick for settling for nap time and bed in under a minute!). It sort of provides some sort of “community” for raising our children which we have so sadly lost in these modern times. Perhaps you don’t need it as much because Andrew works from home? Just interested in whether you have managed to find this sort of support system (perhaps you just don’t blog about it to respect their privacy?). Anyway, love your blog – I’ve been reading it since before I was pregnant.

    • We have quite a few mothers with babies within a year of each other on our street, actually.

      There are groups like that in US though. I have friends go to la leche league meetings and there are playgroups but right now it’s so hot and half the people are gone for the summer rarely anyone meets outdoors.

      Plus the suburbs where we live are soooo spread out that it’s a bit more difficult to just get together for a cup of tea, not impossible but definitely not easy.

      • I’d really suggest looking at meetup.com…. I’d be willing to bet there are mom groups in your area. I have two children (2 year old daughter and 4 month old son) and we have all made wonderful friends thanks to the moms groups on meetup.com.

  2. Hi Elena. Lovely post. I love the look of joy on Lexi’s face. Can I ask the reasoning behind the swing cover? I don’t have an issue with them, I think they are cute, but I was just wondering why you chose to use one?

    Also, are you planning on having specific posts in your blog printed and bound for Lexi to look back on? I’m keen to have mine printed but not sure where to get it done?

    Keep up the great blog. It’s going to be a wonderful memory book for Lexi.
