I am slowly catching up with everything after 2 weeks at Disney and a week in Vegas. Lots of posts almost finished, so hang tight there with me while I build up some of my drafts to start posting more regularly.

On Monday I will be publishing a post about an amazing toy company that you are going to love. They seriously make the best most educational toys EVER!

But today a little bit of fluff that will help me get into the swing of things: photos!

Just a few images that have been sitting in my “FOR LATER” folder waiting to be posted.

We’ve been travelling so much it’s difficult to get a breather in but at least we get to stay at places that look like this! That’s a bonus, isn’t it? Just fyi, the hotel is Marriott’s World Center in Orlando. I’ve been pretty much staying exclusively at Marriotts since that one time, racking up points with their rewards program and they never disappoint.

Our mornings while travelling. Lexi does pretty well in hotel rooms, sleeps the same, acts the same. She really is a trooper. And every day she gets better and better, more patient, smarter, more curious.

I bought a few Macro filters for my lenses and was trying them out here. I desperately want to get back into photography for the sake of photography but it’s almost impossible with an active and curious and demanding toddler.

Speaking of toddlers, we are still free of tantrums, thankfully. Of course, moods change in an instant, she gets upset when she doesn’t get what she wants, but in general we are very understanding of her limitations and she rewards us with mild freak outs that last a few seconds and rarely turn into something worse.  In turn, she is very conscientious (if a toddler can be that), respectful (most of the time), trusting and pretty complaint on things that matter. I love the little girl she is becoming.

With her own fashion sense. Everything nowadays is a “Hat”! She will put anything on her head and pretend it’s a hat, as pretend play is one of her favorites nowadays.

And she is obsessed with helmets. She loves her and mommy’s  Nutcase  helmets and puts them on any chance she gets. She is also in love with her Yepp bike seat which is a welcome change to container hate (more on that later).

It’s cooling down so we are trying to spend more time outdoors, drawing with chalk, biking, walking, running…

Our potty training is going…. hm… it’s going…. One step back, two steps forward, we are not pushing it. I have a whole post on it coming. But she loves reading books on her potty 🙂 Potty is Loo by Joovy

I dug these photos below out of the bottomless pit that my photo library is. I thought that I had lost them. It’s funny to see how different Lexi was just a few short months ago. She still had the baby face.

Her hair has grown a lot, and in general she just looks like such a big girl. It’s hard to believe that she is under 20 months in these pictures.

Oh and per your recommendations,  I downloaded the Endless Alphabet app and it’s amazing. Lexi picked it up immediately and has learned many words from it. {P.S. It’s so nice to photograph her with the phone in her hands because I get to frame and focus on what I want for a change, rather than run after her hoping that my focus holds up.}

Someone pointed out earlier how much taller she is than her lions that she has been feeding since she could walk. It’s so true, old pictures show that she was the same height as them. And it’s only been 6-7 months.

This is an oldie but goodie, she is around 14-15 months, trying to get into a drawer to find a “Poon” (spoon)

So that’s pretty much for right now. Look forward to an awesome post on Monday and don’t forget to check our the latest Daily Mom posts.

  1. Hi Elena,

Where did you get that adorable blue hearts romper?

Leix is such a cutie – her hairstyles are truly precious!

  2. Why would your daughter throw temper tantrums? It would seem, based on everything you’ve shared, that you pretty much let her run the show and dictate what and how things are going to happen. Most tantrums with small children happen when parents begin setting boundaries and expect rules to be followed. I’m not at all implying that how you’re raising you child is ‘wrong’, but it isn’t ‘traditional’ either. I wouldn’t expect you to have some of the same ‘challenges’ as other parents at this time.

    • Oh believe me there are plenty of opportunities for her to throw a tantrum throughout the day, even though I don’t set unnecessary, in my opinion, rules for some things, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t times that she has to do something she does want to.
I do try to adjust my expectations of her abilities based on her age, and go by her cues as far as when she wants to eat or sleep, as well as not stress out (or at least try not to) when she is being messy, but other than that, it’s pretty much what I see all of my friends do as well.

But then again I don’t think any of my closest friends are dealing with tantrums yet either and their parenting seems to be very similar to mine.

  3. Lexi is so adorable! This age is so much fun, as they start truly becoming their own little people. My daughter is about a month younger than Lexi, and I’m having so much fun with all of her chattering and pretend play. Sometimes I have so much to do around the house and for work, but how can I say no when she walks up in her chef hat and says in her little toddler voice “wut chu wanna eat?” My sister’s kids are older than mine, and I can see how fast the time goes. I’m trying to enjoy every second of her being little, without getting distracted by tons of other stuff, because I know it won’t last forever!
