  1. She is so cute! my kid loves to nom on peaches too. it’s hard to tell, but it looks like her car seat straps are coming out of a slot above her shoulders. Rear facing calls for straps to come out of a slot either exactly level with or below the shoulders for maximum safety. It’s hard to tell, maybe they are already like that.. just wanna make sure. She’s too cute nomming on her feet and making angry faces!

      • I see what she’s saying. It might just be the angle of the pic, but they look high. Just read through your manual really quick and make sure they’re in the right slot for rear facing. It might even say on the side of the seat.

Great pictures, btw. She looks like she’s growing so much!

      • Rear facing – straps should come out of the slot that is below baby’s shoulders (or exactly even with them).
Forward facing – straps should come out of the slot that is above child’s shoulders (or even).

Not sure why it’s like that, but it has something to do with the pressure on the straps during an accident. I think it’s so there is a bit of “give” when forward facing, so the shoulders don’t stay put while the head/neck snap forward. Rear facing doesn’t have that issue, so having the straps below the shoulders holds them in more snugly during an accident. At least that’s what I’ve read!

      • You can test the angle by sticking a butter knife into the hole and if the angle goes up then it is correct. It can be hard to tell sometimes if it is correct with the cover. Hope that makes sense!

    • Can you tell us a little more about BLW? My son is 6 months old and I’d love to just give him a peach or other fruit to chew on but I’m terrified of him choking! Right now I make homemade purees. How do you know if it’s safe for her to eat since she has no (or 1) teeth?

      Also, she’s getting huge!

      • I’ll be writing about it soon in more detail, but check out BLW book or website.

I’ll tell you this : I was very afraid of her chocking until I read the book which explains very well how PROPERLY introducing normal food has no more danger of chocking than purees.

The book isn’t very scientific but it’s common sense.

I wouldn’t try it without reading first though since it touches on a few safety issues that I found very important.

I have to tell you I’m loving it and Lexi is a huge fan.

  2. What stroller are you using in those pictures? It doesn’t look like that red one you wrote about a few days ago. Did you get a new one?

  3. I love her thighs. Seriously. How adorable is she?
Looks like BLW is going great. I love seeing babies chomping on real fruit, or any real food. Are you planning on making your own baby food purees?

  4. So you started solid foodN when did you did start? How did it go? Any advice? Anything you would recommend for products ie highchair, spoons, bibs etc….?

  5. Did you stay in a room with the atrium view? I love the room renovations they have done! We are on the space coast and stay at Gaylord palms every few months because it is my happy spot 🙂 I definitely prefer it to Disney during the hot months

    • You know, I had to think about what the view was ( obviously not something I even noticed, even though back before Alexis, the room and the view were a big deal lol). I think the view was of some garden outside the hotel.
Gaylord Palms is one of my favorites. I do love Disney hotels too and we stay there often just for fun ( like you say happy spots), but Gaylord is definitely something special. Did you ever get to go to their ice exhibit?

      • We always pay the little extra for the atrium because of the a/c balcony bonus and the fun people watching! Lol it’s esPecially fun around 9pm when everyone is tipsy 🙂

I have NOT been to ice! We didn’t discover the wonder of GP until right after Silas was born. This year, he will be 2.5 and prime age! We are also going to switch over to universal passes this year since he is in love with shrek, barney, and despicable me. We had annual passes to both Disney and universal when we first got married, but it was too much. Plus, DHs uncle works for universal now- yay family discount! The whole family’s pass combined wont cost as much as 1 Disney pass!

Why do you think of the new pools? The kid area was a little too old for a 2 yr old, but he loved the nightly movie. Also, we are going to do a shrek bday party for Silas this year at GP. Did you happen to see the characters roaming around? Looks like fun!

        • This was the first time we actually stayed there. Up until now we’d just visit and go to villa de flora. We usually stay exclusively at Disney. And we were the same way with season passes as you. This year it’s gonna be Disney passes.

Have fun with your 2 year old. We are taking Lexi to Disney in September and we can’t wait!

  6. Hi there– such cute pics of your little gal eating! I see Alexis is not eating purees, but straight off the fruit. Was wondering where you got the idea…anywhere online I can read about introducing solids this way? Thanks!!
