15 WEEK BUMP UPDATE

Well, hello there, BELLY! I promise I am not sticking it out, but my hips are a bit tilted back in that picture. When I push them forward, my stomach looks smaller, so I am not sure how accurate this photo is. However, it’s very obvious to me, hubby and people who know me that I am pregnant and not fat or bloated. I like having a little stomach, but it’s so uncomfortable to sit. It just feel weird having a stomach in the way.

15 Week Bump Update

STATS:

How far along: 15 weeks.

How big is baby: It’s a APPLE.

Total weight gain: +4 pounds (140lb) I’m glad my weight gain is finally picking up!

Sleep: I was officially told not to sleep on my back and “better” not to sleep on my stomach, so it’s quite uncomfortable, but I am slowly getting used to it. Really need to order a body pillow.

Best moment of the week:
MY BIRTHDAY!
Having a clean house – we finally hired a housekeeper who comes in every other day for 2 hours and it’s HEAVEN!
Being able to exercise.

Food cravings { again, these are not real cravings (i.e. I can easily resist them), but here are things I’ve been “enjoying” more than other foods I eat}:
Pistachio ice cream, eggs, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, white bean tuscan salad, anchovies (lol), peaches, plums, apples, pears and anything fresh.

Food aversions: I’m down to only two: sardines and romaine. I’ve conquered my aversion to spinach, nuts and other fish, but my memories of being sick are just too strong to allow for the other two. I also can’t stand the thought of pizza- YUCK!

Symptoms:
Nausea – I think it’s gone. I still have a funny relationship with food, i.e. don’t enjoy it the way I used to, and only occasionally feel nauseous but mostly it’s gone.
Heartburn – Only really late at night and very light.
Skin – Better this week, but I’m not holding my breath
Skin dryness – My skin on my back and stomach is starting to feel dry, like it needs to be moisturized. Is it too early for that? I moisturize at least twice a day and whenever I feel the dryness, but I can’t help but feel like it’s dry and stretchy all day.

Gender: At our 20 week ultrasound in September

What I’m looking forward to: Tomorrow’s OB appointment and, of course, next month’s anatomy scan.

What I miss:
Being able to buy cute clothes, knowing my size. I am addicted to MyHabit and there’s so much cute stuff to buy there, but I keep stopping myself because I know soon I won’t be able to wear it and after birth I don’t know if i’ll be the same size. I know there are always shoes and purses, but those are not as much fun. And no, I don’t think ANY maternity clothes is cute. You can find acceptable stuff, but in the end it’s all about wearing what fits, not what one wants.

Next appt: August 5th

Note: I’ve been a sucky blogger friend and have barely commented on anyone’s blogs, however I promise I read them ALL the time on my iphone: every morning, evening and in-between. It’s been hard trying to rest, work, eat, cook and do some blogging

  1. You look amazing! I wish I looked that good when I was pregnant! I was sick for the entire 9 months, barfing multiple times a day 🙁 You look awesome!

  2. I was ALL baby and carried all out front. I was huge by the time 41 weeks and 2 days rolled around, and yet I never bought a single piece of maternity clothes. Don’t spend any money on new clothes until you absolutely have to. I find it hard to believe that you’ve NEVER seen a cute piece of maternity clothing, but if you really want to avoid it, there are tons of cute flowy non-maternity outfits that you might be able to wear instead. Maternity clothes are not what they used to be, and it’s not that hard to still look like yourself while pregnant these days.

    • I’ve seen maternity clothes that I could say “ok I could wear that” about. But I have so much clothes that I don’t buy anything unless it’s totally adorable, that I just have to have it. And maternity never once made me feel that way. I’ll probably have to buy at least 1 pair of pants eventually, especially towards the end when it might get colder in Fl, but for now it’s all dresses for me!

  3. You look simply beautiful <3
I dont think its too early for he itchy skin, and for moisturizing. You have a baby bump, the skin is stretching, moisturize it!
Whatever you do DONT SCRATCH it!
Im sure you will be able to bounce right back from your baby weight too. The first one is usually easiest to lose the weight after. And purses and shoes are fun BUT, your feet might grow a bit! So watch out 😉
    Loving your updates Elena!!

    • The skirt was actually from my very first attempt at thrifting. I wanted to see what it’s like. It’s huge, about 5 sizes bigger than normal so it’s very loose but I’m hoping that means I can wear it for the rest of pregnancy.
I’ll do a post of a few things I got on myhabit.

  4. Hey, I just thought you should know that some pregnant women’s feet go up a whole size during pregnancy and don’t go back down. So be careful of any shoe purchases too. Sorry!

  5. look at that cute little bump!

I tried to go shopping because I already find my clothes getting uncomfortable – even my husbands clothes are tight on me! Maternity clothes are just awful, and the ones that are passable are usually SO expensive. I’ve been mostly wearing some maternity leggings I found and various shirts that belong to my husband, but I feel like such a slouch!

  6. I don’t mind maternity clothing. I’ve found that Old Navy has some “cuter” things. I’m telling you, the belly band was a lifesaver.
Do you guys have a “Whole Foods” store in Florida? If so, I purchased a brand of “anti stretch mark oil” (let me tell you, don’t buy into that whole noise, I have stretch marks so horribly it looks like a wild animal tried mauling me to death) however, it’s really good at moisturizing. My skin is super itchy, because the stomach is stretching. Slather this stuff on, it helps I promise. Plus it’s also a great massage oil, and it smells good. 🙂
It’s called “Mother’s Special Blend” and it’s like $14.99 at Whole Foods Market.

PS: I’m still a giant advocate for Belly bands. Check out a friends blog: http://7x7xmommy.com/
She tackles lots of different issues, and now that her baby is born, it’s a great heads up for what to come. 🙂

    • I’ve been using mothers blend since before pregnancy. It’s super natural which I like but it’s just so oily and stinky :))) And all other moisturizer contain at least one ingredient that isn’t healthy.

I did check out belly band when you first suggested and will definitely be using it once I get bigger.
      I love 7x7x7mommy’s blog, she’s my hero!
Off to check out old navy line.

  7. Thats great! A poppin’ belly 🙂 Mine still hiding herself LOL I’m at 10 weeks!
I add as my friend on facebook! YAY hope u don’t mind!

  8. I love your pictures! All of them look profesionally done. Do you use a specific camera? Or do you use a specific photo editing site or program? I’m dying to know i just love every one of them!.. Also, for 15 weeks you look simply amazing. Having only gained 4 pounds is a God send for you, i gained 8 pounds by my 9th week. Lucky lucky girl:)

    • Well, thank you for that, Kathryn. I feel my bump pictures are the worst of what I take, because I am limited with location, light, desire and how I look 🙂

You can see all my photography gear on my photo blog Selfie Magic (bottom right in the sidebar). For editing I use Lightroom. Feel free to check out the tutorials on the photoblog in the side bar under Selfie Saturday weeks- I talk a lot about how I take my photos.

And again thank you so much for such nice words. It’s easy for me to feel that I am not looking good ( what pregnant woman doesn’t), so it’s good to get some reassurance from other people 🙂

  9. No they are amazing! I love them their all fantastic looking. Trust me though, you look amazing. I was sick non stop, put on weight and FAST and so broken out I couldnt see normal skin! Plus I was sweating and hot all day. I was not a beautiful pregnant woman, you in the other hand shouldnt even doubt that you are, you look great:)

  10. My best advice of keeping fashionable while transitioning to your second and third trimesters is to pick clothing that is airy and flowing. Let’s face is, moo moos during pregnancy further accentuates feeling like a house, haha.
Heidi Klum makes cute maternity clothing (http://www.destinationmaternity.com/Shop_DestinationMaternity/Heidi-Klum-Maternity-Clothes.asp). Want to know what helps? Go on a shopping spree for clothing once the baby is boen. That way you’ll look fabulous after he/she is born 😉

    • Yeah destination maternity is probably my favorite one, but still not exciting enough.
I tried shopping for after baby but I have no idea where I’ll be weight wise. So I’m slowly buying normal sized clothes that has a ton of room for growing belly (will do a post later)

  11. you look absolutely beautiful!! i can’t wait until you round up! you’re going to the most beautiful pregnant woman!

  12. No surprise here, but you look absolutely lovely! (and thanks to both you and Megan for the love up above!) While maternity clothes are nowhere near as cute (or as fun) as “normal” clothes, I found some nice staples at a store called Mom’s the Word in San Francisco (http://www.momsthewordmaternity.com/) – maybe you could browse their site and see if there’s anything that suits your fancy!

  13. Kinda funny, but In your “What I miss” and not being able to buy cute clothes, My biggest issue was that was I ALWAYS felt CUTE!!! I had so many break downs because I wanted to look pretty or even sexy and that ridiculously cute belly always ruined it for me:) But yay for your bump showing!!!
