I wanted to share my Black Friday shopping sites and ask about your favorites as well.
I sure as hell won’t be going to actually stores during this madness, considering I don’t go to stores on normal days. We did do the whole midnight Black Friday experience one year when our Italian friends were visiting and it was actually fun to do it once to see how crazy it gets.
So this year I am sure even more people will be shopping from their couch. So will I. Andrew will be taking Lexi and, armed with a credit card and a list of items, I will be buying stuff we’ve been holding off on buying till this day.
Traditionally every Black Friday we buy new towels, new sheets and new dinnerware. They are the cheapest than any other time of the year and it’s nice to get nice new linens every year. Most of the other items get bought when they are needed during the year, like electronics and camera equipment, because Black Friday usually has deals on more mainstream stuff like low end DSLRs and low end lenses.
Here’s where I will be shopping personally:
- Kohl’s & Macy’s websites for household stuff I mentioned above. We are debating actually going to the store in the morning because we really need to see towels in person, but I am not sure we’ll want to brave the crowds.
- H&M, Express & and a few msc clothing stores (online) because I am completely out of clothes that fits right or looks good.
- Baby clothing (nothing much just a few leggings for the colder weather we are having. I have a whole dresser full of clothes she is not wearing, and my MyHabit shopping habits is keeping it fully stocked). I’d love to hear where you shop for baby clothes ( aside from the standard gaps, jcrews, old navys, etc). I am looking for something cute and different but not crazy expensive ( I have plenty of those). Like I recently discovered Wheat Baby clothing – love it!
- Speaking of MyHabit, this is where I am going to do most of the shopping on Friday an Monday. Because we don’t NEED anything, I will just be looking for something so cute or so cheap that I cannot pass it up.
The key to MyHabit is jumping on it the second the sale starts and concentrating on one category. When 70-90% off sales are run there, things are sold out within the first 10 minutes. So in order to actually get a few things, you have to filter the sale by size and then add to cart everything you see that you like, then go through it and select what you actually want to buy ( adding to cart reserves the item for 10 min). You can easily get $400 dresses for $50-60 and really nice baby clothes under $15 . There are under $50 items in both men’s and women’s sections of things that retail for $200-$300, like $18 BlankNYC jeans I bought a few times (they usually retail for $70-80) or $8-$10 designer baby clothin. Shipping is free an so are returns.
